Southampton plot £10m swoop for Newcastle and West Brom target Charlie Austin

SOUTHAMPTON are ready to offer £10million for Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin.

 

Austin has consistently refused to put pen to paper on the new £60,000 deal QPR offered him in January and the club are now resigned to losing him this summer.

QPR have want about £14m for Austin, who they signed from Burnley in 2013 for £4m.

Saints striker and Tottenham target Jay Rodriguez, meanwhile, has ended speculation about his future by signing a new long-term contract.

A ruptured anterior cruciate ligament means it has been more than a year since the 25-year-old last played.

His current contract was due to expire next year but he has now signed an extension taking him through to 2019.
